November 10th, 2009 - Happy Rad Tech week!

On November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, discovered Xrays which in ultimately gave birth to my chosen profession.  Like many scientific breakthroughs, this discvoery was by accident, but as we have seen, it has grown into a field that no medical center does without.  And so, in honor of this occasion, we celebrate a whole week of free stuff, at least for radiology employees. :P

Also, 20 years ago yesterday, the Berlin Wall, which seperated east and west Belin, or the commies and everyone else, came a tumblin down!  Congrats Germany for uniting your country again!

One final note.  I’ve been told that it’s also OR tech (or OR nurse) week.  Now, I’m not trying to minimize their job as it’s an important one.  We can’t have doctor’s doing the ‘little things’ and that’s where the OR techs and nurses come in.  However, since helping someone was most likely never ‘discovered’ they can get their own damn week and  leave ours alone!
